Generate a strong password for a new account
A strong password is long, unpredictable, and unique to one account. Choose the desired length and character groups, generate a value, and use the strength indicator as a quick guide. Length generally matters more than clever substitutions, so a randomly generated password of 16 or more characters is preferable to a short memorable word with a number appended.
Do not reuse the generated password on another service. Store it in a reputable password manager rather than a note, screenshot, or message to yourself, and enable multi-factor authentication when the account supports it. Some websites reject particular symbols or impose maximum lengths; adjust the options only enough to meet those rules. The meter estimates resistance based on the generated pattern but cannot measure server security, phishing risk, password leaks, or whether you later reuse the same credential.
